Even after Romeo Crennel told Joshua Cribbs he was “down” - as in out of the Dallas game because his sprained ankle was at risk - he couldn’t accept it.
Even though there’s no lock he’ll be back to inflict his unique magic on the Steelers, he is overwhelmed by the sense of duty that makes […]

Winging it before heading to the locker room:
Romeo Crennel said Donte Stallworth’s injury apparently isn’t a groin strain, as the team announced Sunday: “They think it’s more of a quad strain, because it was up high.” He did not clarify what Stallworth’s chances of facing the Steelers might be.
- “We played like we were not […]

We’ll be weighing in with detail as the day gets rolling, but we’ll ask before closing up shop for opening day.
Does that “thing” we witnessed against Dallas indicate the Browns are a year away? Not even that close? Or something else?
What did you make of LeBron James’ Cowboy schmoozing?
How long should D.A.’s leash be now?
Thoughts […]

Some scenes from the walk through the Muni Lot tailgate party (it took almost an hour to walk from the press box to the end of the overstuffed Muni Lot, and we walk pretty fast).
- Good to see the Ohio State band warming up along the lakefront.
- There were lots of Cowboys jerseys in the […]

“Killed On Way to Picnic,” the front-page headline in The Repository reported in September 1908.
“Mrs. Leah Courter Struck by W. & L. E. Train,” added other decked headlines, reporting in the manner of the day the details of the Canton woman’s death. “Crossing the Track.” “When Engine, Suddenly Coming Around Curve In Southwestern Part Of […]

From listening to the Browns talk shows during the drive up, there were a lot of Cowboys jerseys up by the restaurants near and in Tower City.
Walking in from the parking lot, the only people walking on the sidewalks outside the Stadium, it seemed, were wearing Dallas colors.
Presumably, that will change big-time when the tailgate […]

- Sunday greetings, whether you’re getting back from church or rolling out of bed.
Nothing like opening day.
Here’s a little Sunday brunch for your pregame enjoyment.
- Browns safety Sean Jones takes it as a challenge to his manhood when people call the secondary the team’s weakest link - and people do.
“I think everybody’s gonna rise to […]

Another look at the Canton Woman’s Club, and at the interests of Canton women more than 80 years ago, is afforded by a notation of the “List of Entertainments and Lectures” printed in the club’s yearbook in 1922.
J.M Himes was recorded as giving a lecture on “The Woman’s Vote” at a lecture Sept. 30,1920. Mrs. […]

The kid from Scappoose is The Man, but he’s not the only Oregon State Beaver on the lake.
Derek Anderson’s former college teammate Gerard Lawson also made the Browns, as an undrafted rookie who really has a knack for special teams.
Lawson was a super longshot because he wasn’t even a starter as an Oregon State defensive […]
